March - the Month of Water
March seems to have become the month to celebrate water. There are several awareness initiatives underway this month to inform people about the benefits and dangers of water. Below are a few of these initiatives with links to the websites where you can download promotional and educational materials. These can then be shared by your agency with your citizens or customers.
National Groundwater Awareness Week - March 11-17 - EPA Groundwater Site: http://water.epa.gov/type/groundwater/awarenessweek.cfm
Flood Safety Awareness Week - March 12-16 - NOAA National Weather Service Site: http://www.floodsafety.noaa.gov/ and FEMA's Ready.gov site: http://www.ready.gov/floods
Fix a Leak Week - March 12-18 - EPA WaterSense Site: http://www.epa.gov/watersense/our_water/fix_a_leak.html
World Water Day - March 22 - UN-Water Site: http://www.unwater.org/worldwaterday/

In addition to water-related events, March is also the month for Earth Hour - an event in which people around the world turn off their lights for one hour to demonstrate support of the environment. This month Earth Hour will be held on March 31, 2012, at 8:30 pm. You can find out more at their website: http://www.earthhour.org/page/get-involved/tools-and-downloads
